Hypnotherapy has therapeutic applications for mental, emotional and physical disorders. Hypnotherapy uses both the power of suggestion and trance-like states to access the deepest levels of the mind to effect positive changes in a person's behavior, and to treat a range of health conditions including chronic illness

Thousands of doctors now combine hypnotherapy with traditional treatments, and recent studies show that 94% of patients benefited even if the only benefit was relaxation. Hypnotherapy is also effective in treating substance abuse, anxiety, stress, and weight management. Medical doctors refer to hypnotherapists today. The National Institute of Health and the American Medical Association have endorsed hypnotherapy as an effective alternative therapy.

The human mind is made up of two parts: the conscious and the subconscious. We are aware of our conscious minds every day, this being the part that makes everyday decisions. The conscious mind is ruled by the much larger part, the subconscious. All mental and physical functions from regulating blood pressure to imagination is governed by the subconscious mind. A subconscious desire is so strong that it will always triumph over a conscious mind desire. An example of this is the desire to stop smoking or being told by your doctor to stop smoking, but the subconscious mind desire is to continue to smoke, you will continue to smoke until you come into agreement with the subconscious mind.

Hypnotherapists believe that the subconscious mind is a warehouse of human energy and power and the home of self. It is crucial that we as human beings understand our subconscious, learning how to harness the power of the subconscious assists us in creating health and wellness. By utilizing your subconscious you are able to move into a fuller understanding of yourself and create your true potential.

The subconscious mind stores all of your beliefs and "programs" if you will. Just like a computer that runs on a certain program, so does the subconscious mind. Under a trance like state the client's conscious mind is lulled into a sleep that allows the subconscious mind to be accessed. The replacement of negative, fixed ideas and beliefs are replaced with positive ones. Negative emotional patterns can also be address and re-patterned into positive ones through the use of hypnosis. This re-patterning is done by suggestion, which you are more receptive to in a trance state, that targets negative programs with the aim to counteract your problem or difficulty. An example would be smoking, the suggestion that you dislike cigarettes and never want to smoke again will assist in reprogramming the subconscious mind, planting a seed that will assist in modifying your belief system and thus help the client give up smoking.

Hypnotherapy is based in the premise that the mind has the power to create illness, imbalance and disease and the power to cure it by activating the body's inherent healing abilities.

Hypnotherapy is very effective in treating physical, mental and psychosomatic problems. Hypnotherapy has been very successful with habit problems and addictions such as overeating, smoking; difficulties from past traumas; phobias and stress related diseases such as anxiety, insomnia, eczema and asthma.

Hypnotherapy is very safe in the hands of a qualified practitioner. Hypnotherapy and self hypnosis is being taught world wide to assist individuals in health, healing and living to their full potential.

There is a great deal of research being conducted regarding thoughts and emotions as they relate to physical health. We are seeing proof that the mind/body/spirit connection is an accurate diagram of the human being. More and more grants and funding are being made available to continue the research in these areas, which continues to support the principles of subtle energy and energy medicine and body/mind therapies.
